Shu Gan Wan 舒肝丸

Shugan Pills are a traditional Chinese patent medicine. They belong to the category of qi-regulating agents and have the effects of soothing the liver and harmonizing the stomach, regulating qi, and relieving pain. They are mainly used for liver qi stagnation, with symptoms such as fullness and distension in the chest and hypochondriac regions, epigastric pain, gastric discomfort with nausea and vomiting, belching, and acid regurgitation.

Description
This product appears as water-honey pills, large honey pills, or water pills, ranging in color from reddish brown to brown. It has a mild odor and a sweet taste followed by slight bitterness.

Water-honey pills: 100 pills weigh 20 g.

Administration and Dosage
Oral administration.
4 g (20 pills) per dose, 2–3 times daily.

Precautions

1. Use with caution in pregnant women.

2. This prescription contains cinnabar (Zhusha); it should not be taken in excessive doses or for long periods. Use with caution in patients with impaired liver or kidney function.

3. Remove the wax coating and plastic shell before use. The pills may be chewed or swallowed in divided doses.

4. If used concurrently with other medications, potential interactions may occur; consult a physician or pharmacist before use.
